Field Observation Visit

As part of the social work sensitization programme, Department of Social Work, Amritapuri campus organised one day field observation visit for the 1st and 3rd semester students of Masters programme in Social Work at two organisations, namely:

a. The Kerala State cashew Development Corporation Limited

http://www.cashewcorporation.com/

b. Gandhi Bhavan at Pathanapuram, Kollam

It proved to be a great opportunity for the new as well as the senior batch of

student social workers to learn different fields of Social Work practice. Students were engaged in exploring the avenues of social work in a factory setting and care – rehabilitation support setting.

Hope this exercise  helped the students to:

  • Understand the current social work practices and intervention possibilities in the two fields of practice that they visited.
  • Critically analyse the state of affairs prevailing in the system and areas to be addressed.
  • Get inspired and inculcate values of empathy, passion and commitment to bring in a difference to status quo.
